I remembered to take a picture of the cake this year! Yippee me! And mostly yippee Aunt Lou! How cute is this?!
This year we were smart, too. Because last year, as some of you may recall, we had an outbreak of strep throat of about 15-20 cases immediately following the boys' party. Nice. Most likely could be contributed to the germ factories blowing all over the cake. So here are the boys, all smiles with the cake...Excited....ready to go....until...

...the candles were lit. Back story here. A few weeks ago at school, someone pulled the fire alarm during lunch. It was in that between time too when all the little kinders were en route between the cafeteria and playground. Landon was of course, scared, and then he was with the group of kids that the double doors shut on when the alarm went off. Without a teacher in their immediate location, he went from scared to petrified and has been our little Smokey Bear ever since. A lot of nights of questions before bed time about what causes fires and what happens if there is a fire, and are we sure the Christmas lights shouldn't be unplugged before he goes to bed, and what about his night light? could THAT cause a fire. Sigh. In one of those conversations about what COULD cause fires I, of course, mention that candles that are left burning near things could cause fires. and BOOM. The kid is terrified of birthday candles.

We still lit his candles and sang, but he was wringing his hands most of the time. He wasn't the only unhappy during the cake festivities. While Sophia has a love for shoes, she DOES NOT have a love for the Happy Birthday song. She cried during the singing.
Most times the candles are lit again and blown out several times. Landon wasn't up for that this year. I think he did one more turn, but only because we made him.

| Could we please just EAT the cake instead of setting it on fire? |

Okay, candles removed...all good.
Good cake Aunt Lou! (Love Grant's concentration on giving the thumbs up, as well)

Time for some playing and snuggling
