Three and a Half and Cancer Free!

We didn't do a birthday party in December for Landon because Grant was brand new and we had just finished chemo. Throw the holidays in...and we were beat. So, at the end of July we had a half birthday/cancer free party for Landon. We pulled out all stops, too. Rented a bounce house, got a ginormous outdoor movie projector and invited all his buddies. We had it at Larry and Chris's since a) our yard is not even remotely level enough to put a movie screen or bounce house in, and b) if you were in our yard for longer than 15 minutes this summer the mosquitoes practically carried you off (downside of having a forest in your backyard instead of neighbors).

Chad picked up the bounce house late Sunday morning and Landon was excited with a capital E. He was chewing on his hands he was so excited. He eagerly watch Grandpa and Daddy unload it and get it blown up. Then we let him in....the following video shows his excitement...and how it changed to terror in a matter of seconds....

There was something that needed adjusting on the bounce house...and Landon flipped. We tried our best to get him back in...Uncle Stallion even got in (until Larry kicked him out for blowing the air hose off the bounce house with his heavy duty bouncing). He wanted nothing to do with it. I was a little concerned he wasn't going to recover, but after bouncing with him for a little bit at the beginning of the party, he more than recovered.

From the start of the party to the start of the movie, the bounce house was FULL of kids. I tried to take pictures, but they were all blurry. Not sure why I didn't take a video, but...I didn't.

Here's Landon with a bunch of his buddies. They had their own baseball game going...gosh, it doesn't seem like he should be old enough to do something like that...sigh.

Prior to candle lighting...Landon on the edge of his seat for singing. And yes....we sang happy birthday. That may be a little weird since it wasn't really his birthday, and wasn't really his half birthday either, but the kid got skipped out on, and he LOVES the birthday song. It had to be done.

More bouncing! Here's Landon and his pal Creighton. Creighton and Landon are going to be in the same class of preschool this year and are in Sunday school together. Mark this as Creighton's first (and certainly not last) appearance on the blog. My prediction: these boys are gonna be pretty tight. They like the same sports, the same games, and the same movies. It's a match made in heaven.

And...Grant finally gets his turn in the bounce house. Once the movie started the other kids flocked to the yard and he had it all to himself. Aunt Deanna was supervising his bouncing. I'd say he enjoyed it.
