Landon played his first peewee soccer season last spring. As many of you will recall it was a little rocky. Mr. Land-o is quite the competitor and didn't appreciate being beat in any way, and spent a lot of time on and off the field in tears. In my mind, the season was pretty much summed up by us trying to keep Landon ON the field and trying to keep Grant OFF. We ended the season with no tears, and I thought we were done until next spring. Not sure WHY I thought that...because soccer is also a fall season sport. So we're now in the midst of our first fall season of peewee soccer (along with Chad's hs boys' season, the beginning of the school year, AND orchestrating a move...if I fall behind on the blog, you'll know why!)
So we made it to the field this week for the first game, which doesn't seem like that big of a deal, but seriously, it's the longest walk ever from the parking lot to the peewee fields. It can be a dangerous one, too...with all the other game and practice fields you have to walk through to get there....especially when you're toting an almost 2 year old, have an almost 5 year old following you with a ball, and you're trying to push a stroller through some pretty rough terrain. Getting to the field is half the b
attle.
So first game, means jersey time...and Landon was lucky enough to get number 9 again. He and his buddy Creighton were 9 and 10 last season, just like Berbatov and Rooney (from the English Manchester United team for those of you whom that seems foreign to). It doesn't sound like a big deal to you, but trust me, it's a big deal. Unfortunately their shirts are nearly big enough for Berbatov and Rooney, too and require a lot of tucking and rolling. Here's Landon after he put his jersey on posing by one of his number one fans.
A little pregame warm up and pep talk from Coach Jon and Coach Jeremy (which we're even more thankful for than having the same jersey numbers again) And then the game began! Landon sat out the first quarter, but went in for the second and a few minutes in scored a goal! Last year we didn't see any goal celebrations until the end of the season during the players vs. parents game...Well, we started off the fall season with a little more confidence.
Landon scored the goal ran to mid field, slid on his knees with his arms up and hands in fists, yelling "Yeah, Baby!" at the top of his lungs. I was cheering and didn't even get a picture until he was about to stand up...I have to say I was nearly embarrassed. Last spring we were bribing him to stay on the field, now we're a little too confident to be considered a good sport!

Runnin hard and playin hard....that's Landon's friend Jayden near Coach Jon.
"I'm open!"
Action shot!!
Here he is taking in the game during a breather...
And some shenanigans with Creighton. Yes, he's doing a cartwheel. Oh. My.
Love this picture of the two of them...file this in high school graduation slideshow file.
Some strategy talk...
And Grant hanging on me saying, "Maaaaaammmy" like he does SEVERAL times daily. Had to include that.
More action! This little guy pulled on Landon's shirt a few times. Landon let him know about it, and finally turned to him and said, "Stop pullin on my shirt!" Oh my, again with the sportsmanship. We've got some work to do.
After the game, which unofficially ended in a tie, like they all do....;) We did the tunnel and the Destroyers ran through to get their snack and drink. Landon showed off his big brother skills (not as boastfully as his soccer skills) and shared his Capri Sun with Grant. He's very sweet like that...most of the time.
And then on to another exciting event...a trip to McDonald's with some of our favorite friends...the Krippels. Creighton has really been lovin the new Yukon and actually got to ride in it on the way to McDonald's. Tressa has always told me our two boys are like a comedic duo...and I caught just a small glimpse on the trip from Rochester park to the Capital City McDonald's. Landon and Creighton were debating about which was more "exciting-er" Scheels or McDonalds. HILARIOUS.
Here's Cashton, Landon, and Creighton celebrating the team's first "tie" with Happy Meals.
Here are all the little boys...and their Happy Meal toys, which Grant was very thankful to have since his mommy didn't order him one. Corwin was so nice that he gave Grant his ethnic Aqua Man. :)
Our two little men flashin the rock fist for Uncle Dow, sponsor of the team

and a shot of one side of the table...all the little boys being hosted by biggest brother Keegan (I told you, you'd make the blog Keegan!)

...AND being caught up on the blog after the first week of school! Woot woot! Go me!!! (maybe Landon gets his poor sportsmanship from me! Eek!)
...and now we shall see how this week in soccer goes. The second game was when the wheels fell off the emotional cart last season. We'll keep our fingers crossed....
