It's 2014, Friends!

Well, 2014 came in with a bang, and a big dose of winter.  It  snowed enough on New Years Day to the north of us to cause Uncle Michael's stay in a hotel before he reached his Ann Arbor destination.  It didn't do that much here...until it was time for us to return to school, and then we had two snow days that delayed our scheduled start, which was AWWWWE SOME, because two weeks vacation is just not enough for me.  ;)  (insert gag here, non teacher readers)
It did give me more time to get the house Un-Christmased, which  always takes longer than planned and when done on a regular day that isn't a surprise day off, is depressing.  Sure does help doing it when you SHOULD be at work though.  :)  The boys, in their boredom, found some creative ways to spend some time.  I give you the wall in the kitchen by Landon's desk....snowflakes (appropriate) and Star Wars characters (of course).
Grant has graduated to being an ACTUAL helper instead of just being called a helper.  Sorting silverware is his forte...which makes everyone happy, even Landon, who doesn't have to complain about doing that job himself anymore.  Score!

We did a little painting.  Landon started some R2-D2 ornaments for a Star Wars Christmas tree that we have plans for for next Christmas.  Grant wanted in on the action of course, so we got out some water colors.  Two happy boys.

The longer we were all inside together, the less the brotherly love and happiness existed, but here's a moment where they were yelling, screaming, wrestling, tattling, or generally beating on each other.  Woot woot!
Landon doing some water painting and making foam snowmen on the windows.  I really thought Grant would get into that, but not so much really.
Landon spent a lot of time building his Lego sets, and Mommy spent a considerable amount of time relocating the Legos to the new playroom upstairs on a make shift Lego table that much better serves the family than the DINING ROOM TABLE.  Ugh.  Legos.  Every.  Where.

Grant discovered one of my favorite treats (and obviously inherited some of my weirdness genes ;)  Corn Chips with cottage cheese.  Or as Grant calls it, College Cheese.  I prefer my cheese to be educated as well really.

Jam and Bread...reminds me of that book 'Bread and Jam for Frances.'  Anyone remember that book?  I think she was a badger.  And not the honey kind people.  :)

Two extra days at home snugglin' my boys was just what I needed to kick of the new year.
